Develop ability to solve problems and grow creativity

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

STEAM learning program is an educational concept that emphasizes the importance of these five domains and is designed to develop children’s ability to solve problems and to create something new. What is the main skill we need to survive the 4th industrial revolution?

Not only The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, but also the Japanese government as a whole are looking for ways to adopt and move towards the Super Smart Society (Society 5.0). This follows the Hunting Society (Society 1.0), the Agricultural Society (Society 2.0), the Industrial Society (Society 3.0), and the Information and Technology Society (Society 4.0).

The modern world faces major social changes. The focus of this major change is called the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, and it is thought that IoT, big data, and AI will have a major impact on all members of society.

In this period of great social change, children will need to develop skills in fields that computers cannot handle in order to use and collaborate with AI and play an active role in society.

STEAM human-lad skills that society will need

A typical STEAM skill would be someone who has the ability to create new value with unlimited mobility across the five main areas of STEAM learning, those who can sympathize with friends, those who can sometimes constructively argue with friends, those who can persuade others with communication, and those who can pursue a common value.

Using the curriculum of the STEAM Learning Promotion Association, children learn the skills of using information technology + logical thinking + creative thinking + programming thinking to live cooperatively and collaboratively. The aim is to overcome difficult social issues that may or may not have clear right or wrong answers.
